Our weather may not change much here in Houston, but we still love the fall season! If you’re selling your home this fall, take the opportunity to add a few fall home decorating flairs to your exterior for boosted, seasonal curb appeal! Buyers love that.

Your Keller Williams Memorial real estate team is here to offer some suggestions:

Hang an autumn wreath on your front door. A wreath made of colored leaves or fall flowers is the perfect way to add a burst of color to your home this fall! People love the deep red and bright orange and yellow hues of fall, so incorporate this on your front door, a place they’ll stare right at.

If you want to add a fall scene to your yard, consider finding an old wheelbarrow, or creating a DIY version of one, and then painting it a barn red color. Around the wheelbarrow, place pumpkins, mums, straw bales or whatever else you find fall-like.

Decorate with pumpkins! You can rarely go wrong with pumpkins this time of year. If you have front steps leading to a porch, place a pumpkin on each stair. Flank your front entryway with large pumpkins. Rather than carving faces, paint them or tie a cute ribbon around them for lasting appeal.

Brighten fall with metal lanterns as an outdoor autumn display! The days are getting shorter, so lanterns are a cute way to add appeal during the day, and then safely light up the night with battery-powered LED candles. Surround the lanterns with faux fall foliage, pinecones, gourds, etc.

Bring the Wild West into your fall home décor! Place a pair of old cowboy boots on your stoop alongside pumpkins and mums and fill them with dried blooms or native grasses. You could place cowboy hats on top of your pumpkins as well.

Replace your doormat with one with fall tones. Whether the doormat has a fall design on it, such as leaves or pumpkins, or it just displays pretty fall colors, such as browns, oranges, yellows and reds, this is a simple way to update your curb appeal for fall.

When selling, you’re going to have potential buyers looking for your home address numbers. What better way to display them than with painted pumpkins? Stack lightweight faux pumpkins on top of each other in a bushel basket or flower pot, glue them together and attach a plastic number on each one!
