History
History

Cinco Ranch started off with humble beginnings. In the 1820s, the city began as just a community of 300 families who settled in the valleys near the Colorado and Brazos Rivers. The First Mexican Republic allowed Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas,” to bring these families over. Of the people who settled there, Randolph Foster gained land that expanded through the Waller and Fort Bend counties.

Wild animals also occupied the area. Years later, the Foster family married into the Blakeley family, who had thousands of acres of land with cattle and crops. When the Blakeley Ranch was sold to William Wheless in the late 1930s, Wheless and his wealthy four friends became partners and named the ranch “Cinco Ranch.” This was out of respect to the Spanish government. As the area began to grow in land, settlements, and agriculture, it turned a small city and master-planned residential community.
